On Tuesday 13th June 2017 POINT partners InterDigital and CTVC ran the planned closed trial of the BIO Game on the experimental Bristol Is Open smart city network.
30 users took part in the trial (in ten teams of three), downloading the BIO Trial app to their own Android mobile or tablet and following instructions to set up a team of three players. Once the game was started, each player visited two locations around the city, where a wireless access point was set up. When they came within 30 meters of the location, the app was able to connect to the wireless access point and launch a challenge for the player to complete. Once they successfully completed the challenge they were given a letter and asked to record a short video telling their team mates which letter they had received. At the end of the game, each player should have completed two challenges and watched four videos from their team mates giving them a total of 6 letters to enter into a code atthe bottom of the screen. Their time was then added to a leaderboard.
A £100 dinner voucher for El Puerto Tapas Restaurant on Princes Street was offered as a prize – the winners are… Team Warriors. El Puerto kindly provided a runners-up prize too and this goes to… Team Zeeta. Congratulations to both teams and thank you to everyone who took part. Below is a video of Stuart from CTVC drawing the winning teams.
